Now is the Time to See Summer Camps in Action!

Take a Tour or Try Out a Rookie Day

August 3, 2017

Most families when choosing a summer camp for their child ask for recommendations from friends and family members, visit the camp’s website and eventually take a tour of the final contenders.
Many of these tours take place during the camp off-season and although you can learn a lot about a camp during those off-season tours, the best time to visit a camp is during the camp season when you can see them in action. Additionally, having your child participate in a Rookie Day and actually try out the camp is an amazing opportunity to get feedback from your child. If you have never sent your children to camp or are in the process or choosing a new one, a Rookie Day paired with a comprehensive tour can help with the decision making.

What is a Rookie Day?

Rookie Day is a one-day FREE program that invites prospective campers to participate with current campers in the activities, spirit, fun and excitement of camp. Parents have the opportunity to have a complete tour of the camp, meet our staff and speak with directors.

Why Attend a Rookie Day?

Selecting the right camp for your child is important. Many families find that visiting camp is an invaluable opportunity in deciding on the perfect fit for their family. Rookie Day helps make choosing the right camp a little easier by allowing your child to “taste” the camp experience, while giving you, as parents, a close-up look at the facilities, program, supervision and philosophy while camp is actually in session.

Camp, for most people, is not a one-time experience. The camp you choose for your child now usually is the camp that he or she attends for many years to come. Summer camp is a wonderful opportunity for children to try new things, make new friends, and have experiences away from home. The right camp experience allows children to grow and to become more independent in a safe and fun environment as well as develop new skills and improve upon the ones they already have. A camp with a strong camp culture gives children a sense of community, tradition and pride. That is why making the right camp choice for your child, among so many different choices, is so important.
