About The Producers at the Argyle Theatre, Babylon, NY

Spring Awakening is a Tony Award-winning musical. Check out the Argyle Theatre's Summary

"When The Producers came to Broadway starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick as the infamous characters Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, it had audiences laughing so hard they could barely catch their breath.

Bialystock is a once-successful Broadway producer in the middle of a dry spell. His accountant Bloom tallies the numbers of their current flop. Devious Max realizes he could make more money by producing a deliberate flop and over-selling a piece of the action to unsuspecting investors.

Bialystock finds an incredibly offensive script, “Springtime for Hitler” written by an ex-Nazi and begins to seduce his backers—all little old ladies—out of millions of dollars. He auditions and hires bad actors and a bad director, and even tells the actor who plays Hitler to “gay it up.”

In the first minutes of “Springtime for Hitler,” members of the outraged audience start walking out. Then the Hitler character takes the stage, and people decide the play is a funny satire. Miraculously “Springtime for Hitler” is a huge success. But this hilarious cult comedy doesn’t stop there. The rest of the story involves the IRS, tax fraud, prison time, and a happy ending.

The Producers dominated the 2001 Tony Awards, setting a record for most nominations—15—then setting the record again for most awards won with 12, including Best Musical, Score, Book, Director, and Actor (Nathan Lane), and all the musical design awards."

Mom to Mom

The Producers is a must-see, zany comedy, but not meant for kids. I rate it as 14+ due to the mature nature and tongue in cheek references. The cast is talented and engaging so they'll keep you laughing throughout the show.

A Broadway Theatre Right In Babylon Village!

The Argyle Theatre is tucked comfortably in beautiful Babylon Village. There is ample parking in various lots around town. Our tickets were waiting for us in the theatre and the house manager welcomed us warmly. We took a fun photo by their step & repeat before purchasing drinks and snacks. Behind the concession area, is a spacious lounge with a piano where we sat to chat before the show. There is also a bar and lounge area with additional bathrooms upstairs. The seating and set design was my favorite part of the theatre. The sets are designed in-house for every show. The seating, 250 off the main lobby and 250 up on the balcony, have wide walkways so no one has to get up if someone needs to step out during the show. (Love this!) Seating is extremely comfortable and there are cup holders for your beverages on every seat. Along the center of the floor, is accessible wheel chair seating to accommodate 8 wheelchairs close to their guests. There is a coat check service in the winter and group discounts are available for parties of 15 or more. Be sure to use the 'MACKID' discount code when checking out your purchase to save $10 on tickets.

The Argyle Theater is located at 34 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. For more information, you can call 631/230-3500, email the box office here, or visit their website. Box office hours are Monday-Sunday, 10am-6pm, with extended hours on show nights. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram.
