Are you like the millions of parents across Long Island getting ready to send your child to school? Have you been asking yourself questions like: Will they be prepared for the real world?  Are they getting enough one on one attention? Are they being challenged? Will the staff work with me to help my child grow and thrive? Well, you are not alone in these worries and there is a place for your child where you will feel at ease sending your child- The Bridges Academy in West Islip.

Will they be prepared for the real world?
The Bridges Academy opened on September, 2013 as a fully-independent, federally recognized not-for-profit, offering Preschool through 8th grade, an “all-through” school with no need to change schools at various grade points. It is their mission is to treat students as individuals helping them to fully realize their academic and spiritual potential. Their student body is multicultural and richly diverse with students from many ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds, which is a mirror image of the global environment our students will enter. The Bridges Academy is a place of discovery where students come together to deepen and value their shared experience.

Are they getting enough one on one attention?
At Bridges, your child will be in classes no larger than 18. This will ensure they will receive one-on-one attention from their teachers, which research proves is a better learning environment for children. The small class size also allows Bridges Academy’s nurturing teachers are able to monitor not only the individual pupil's needs and progress, but also their safety more effectively.

Are they being challenged?
Bridges Academy has some very unique aspects to their curriculum as well. For one, they implement foreign language classes in French starting in nursery school and by graduation our students are ranked top on Long Island and nationally. Bridges also focuses on each student’s reading ability by scheduling reading classes school wide at the same time so that each child can read at their own level. These are just two ways they ensure that each child is able to thrive or receive the extra attention they may require.

Will the staff work with me to help my child grow and thrive?
The Bridges Academy is a collaboration of Parents, Teachers, Students and Administrators with a common goal to provide the best education and learning environment for students from Toddlers (2 years) through Eighth Grade on Long Island. They encourage all to be involved in the School to make it the very best. Also, The Bridges Academy Parents’ Association works hand in hand with the students and faculty at Bridges. Through families volunteering time, fundraising efforts and utilizing their own talents, they are able to provide educational as well as creative experiences that complement the curriculum.
